Ouro Preto - A Cultural World Heritage

Ouro Preto is one of the largest Baroque sites in the world and also one out of ten UNESCO Cultural World Heritage sites in Brazil. It is a town dated from the 17th century, located in the state of Minas Gerais, and it was founded as a village in 1698. Ouro Preto means Black Gold, due to the dirty muddy gold found in the mountains and rivers in that region, becoming a “centre of gold” which attracted many people.

Ouro Preto - Brazil

Numerous magnificent churches and cathedrals were built in the colonial baroque style with interiors in gold and other adornments. Due to its gold prosperity, Ouro Preto not only attracted many baroque artists, but it also developed exceptional craftsmen, sculptors, writers and musicians. Aleijadinho is one of its most famous artist and architect whom used soap stone and wood to build incredible and unique sculptures.

Its cobblestone streets along with its colonial quarters and squares are lined with 18th century houses which have been converted into restaurants, hotels and shops maintaining its original features and traditional buildings.

Ouro Preto is a must go and worthwhile place to include in your travel plans especially for those whom love history, baroque and are curious about the Brazilian Heritage sites.

Open Air agreement between Brazil and EU

Negotiations regarding air transport services between EU and Brazil are being closed. According to many commentators Brazil has the largest air transport market in South America, it is also one of the fastest growing aviation market in the world and is expected to increase its demand and growth in the forthcoming years.

This agreement can have significant impact in both economies, business, travellers and both EU and Brazil can take advantage of this agreement.

The main points are:

# All European airlines will be able to freely operate direct flights to anywhere in Brazil. Meaning no restrictions on routes, prices and number of weekly flights.

#Cargo operators from EU will have more business opportunities flying to Brazil.

#It will facilitate cooperation between Brazil and EU

We could say that it's really a necessary agreement for both parts, on a already outdated restrictions between them. It comes in a real strategic moment, once Brazil is now in a very good position in terms of economic growth and will host major sports events in the forthcoming years.
